Domestic exports down 5.2pc

Hong Kong's domestic exports fell 5.2 per cent by volume in January over a year earlier, according to statistics. Exports were 1.7 per cent down, with re-exports down 1.1 per cent. Imports dropped 0.6 per cent in the same period. The price of re-exports fell 4.8 per cent, while domestic exports were down 2.5 per cent. Import prices fell 3.5 per cent from January 1997.
