Nude 'students' on Net

Students and staff at the University of Hong Kong were urged yesterday to help investigations into the latest harassment case in which nude pictures were placed on the Internet.

The university has received complaints that pictures of girls said to be their students undressing in their hostels were found on a Web site.

A spokeswoman said they had reported the case to police but the investigations were proving difficult.

'We found the Web site, which claimed nude pictures of University of Hong Kong's female students would be available via e-mail.

'We e-mailed the address but there was no reply,' the spokeswoman said.

'But some students said they could download the pictures. We are appealing to students or lecturers who have those pictures to come forward. They should pass the information to the police.' The university issued memos to departments and student groups yesterday about the case.

This is the third time nude pictures said to be of university students have reportedly been placed on the Internet.

No one has been arrested.
