An alleged 14K triad member active on the fringes of Macau's gambling industry was shot dead in his car yesterday.

Lau Kam-vai, 32, was hit by at least four shots in the head and abdomen while driving in the city centre. Police believed the shots were fired from a motorcycle.

Judicial sources in Macau said yesterday that at least two of the three trials involving alleged 14K triad faction kingpin Wan Kuok-koi, also known as 'Broken Tooth', starting from today, might be adjourned because of the absence of key witnesses.
