Games galore as students enjoy English Week

Baptist Lui Ming Choi Secondary School held a variety of activities to get students to practise their language skills during English Week.

The week-long event was organised by the English Society. This year, we introduced some fresh ideas and games, in addition to the usual English Week activities. The innovations included introducing new competitions - a comic bubbles competition, a translation competition and new activities such as Games Around the School and the Tongue-twister Challenge.

All these gave students the chances to practise their English while having fun.

The new Tongue-twister Challenge gave students a chance to exercise their tongues after having lunch.

The competition was divided into three levels and was an interesting way of practising English. The names of the best three participants in each level were placed on the board as encouragement to others.

A special attraction was the exciting film Dante's Peak, which was shown after school.

It was shown in a special room under the stage in the school hall and the atmosphere was just like that of a cinema. Most of the audience thought the film was well worth seeing.

Games Around the School increased students' interest in learning English as students could find posters of riddles, common errors and word games all around the school campus.

A fun party, held specially for junior forms after school, provided a great variety of party games, including quizzes, puzzles and 'big television'.

On English-speaking day, students found using English to communicate with others, were given sweets or gift coupons.

The English Week provided a wide range of English entertainment for our schoolmates.
