Border police are 'prepared for the worst' as they watch for any surge in illegal immigrants following yesterday's decision.
Deputy district commander Senior Superintendent Tsang Choi-on said border police had stepped up contact with Guangdong security officers from a monthly basis to a daily basis.
'We will stay alert to any possible influx. We've prepared for the worst,' Mr Tsang said.
Contingency plans included the mobilisation of 300 officers within an hour to tackle any sudden influx.
