Stench offensive

Shops selling fried bean curd, commonly known as 'smelly tofu', have drawn the attention of the Environmental Protection Department. The department said it had received 22 complaints during the past year about the stench given off by the cooking process. It now says two shops in Mongkok face prosecution for air-pollution offences. Neighbouring shops say the smell is driving away customers.
