Nepalese yobs not welcome

The behaviour of the Nepalese fans at Sunday's football match was as predictable as it was nationally uncharacteristic.

You could not meet a braver group of people than the Gurkhas of Nepal, nor could you find a more hard-working people than the Sherpas.

In general the Nepalese are among the kindest and warmest people on the planet. It does seem though that in Hong Kong, we have now got the worst that Nepal has to offer. The Nepalese are frequently banned from bars and discos because of drunken brawling.

I am sorry to say it, but I don't see why any of the unruly element should be welcome to stay. There are plenty of Chinese citizens in the mainland who would be only too happy to take their place. Why are mainland Chinese (yes, even toddlers with Hong Kong mothers) prevented from coming here, while we tolerate Nepalese yobbos? SIMON OSBORNE Repulse Bay
