Not alone

In these columns on June 19, R. T. B. Barrie of Sha Tin asked whether it was right for a public utility (Citybus) in Hong Kong to be wholly foreign-owned.

I wish to remind readers that a much larger and much more critical public utility, that is Hongkong Telecom, is also majority-controlled by a foreign company.

With much pride and fanfare, Hongkong Telecom announced earlier this month it was changing its name to Cable & Wireless HKT.

Are the best interests of the Hong Kong public being taken care of? NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED
