I read press reports and saw a number of items on the television news about Manchester United's short tour of the region last month.
I could not help noticing that whenever these highly paid players appeared on camera, they made no effort to smile. They appeared to be uncomfortable and clearly wished they were somewhere else. Even when they were signing autographs, they never appeared to smile or make eye contact with their devoted fans.
I am a soccer fan, but I don't care much for Manchester United. I was appalled by their non-committal attitude.
I feel sorry for those people who idolise these pampered footballers, when clearly the players care nothing about the fans.
