Overreaction so pathetic
I watched with interest various television reports of two recent incidents.
The first is about a monumental disaster in Turkey in which tens of thousands of people have been killed and many more injured, with the survivors facing a tremendous task of rebuilding their lives.
Those interviewed were stoical and resigned to the fact that a monumental calamity had occurred and they had to continue their lives as best they could.
Contrast that with the response of those who were delayed and inconvenienced following the China Airlines plane that crashed at Chek Lap Kok.
Whilst I appreciate that not being able to travel when scheduled may cause slight difficulties and the lack of information and facilities may be frustrating, it is pathetic to see the overreaction of those passengers to what only amounted to a minor nuisance.
It appeared as if it were those passengers who had suffered appallingly rather than those people in Turkey.
