Puzzled by detailed lists
It seems that private recreation clubs and many other establishments which hold classes for all kinds of hobbies and interests require participants to fill in an enrolment form.
On these forms you have to put down your date of birth.
I joined a monthly aerobics class with a residential (private) club where monthly enrolment was required and I had to put down my date of birth.
I recently noticed that the Hong Kong Tennis Association prints a list of members whose annual membership fees are due.
All the members' dates of birth are shown on the list.
Could those government officials who have a sound knowledge of the Privacy Ordinance explain to me why an organisation like the Hong Kong Tennis Association would feel it was necessary to put dates of birth on such a list? Apparently, public education has not reached the affluent people in the tennis association or some residential private clubs.
