Monaco post for C.C.

C. C. Tung, the Chief Executive's younger brother, and wife Harriet have just returned from Monaco, where they were granted an audience with Prince Rainier.

C. C. was officially made honorary consul of the principality, a post held by Tung Chee-hwa until he became Chief Executive. Their late father, shipping magnate C. Y. Tung, also held the position.

C. C. and Harriet also found time to enjoy themselves in Monte Carlo. They attended a wine-tasting dinner at the famous Hotel de Paris, where they visited the cellars.

The friendship between the Tungs and the Grimaldis goes back to when Prince Rainier and the late Princess Grace visited Taiwan to christen the ship S. S. Constitution, which was owned by C. Y. Tung.

C. Y. Tung bought the liner in the 1970s, renovated it extensively and gave it a new lease of life as a cruise ship in the Hawaiian islands.

In June, Prince Rainier's son and heir, Prince Albert, visited Hong Kong and was hosted by Harriet aboard the company junk of the Orient Overseas Container Line, the Tung family's shipping company.
