Man plunges from casino ship
A HONG KONG man was missing, feared dead, last night after he plunged into the sea off the Orient Princess casino ship following an argument with his wife.
After an air and sea search of almost 12 hours, which was continuing last night, rescue teams had failed to find Lau Leung, 37.
Marine Police and Government Flying Service crews were called after the ship's crew radioed the Marine Department to say Mr Lau had gone overboard at 11.30pm on Friday.
The incident happened just outside Hong Kong waters, six nautical miles southwest of Waglan Island, as the Orient Princess sailed away from the SAR.
'The search is still going on. We don't know whether he fell, jumped or was pushed,' a Marine Police spokesman said.
'He had an argument with his wife. She is pretty upset as you can imagine.' Two police launches and two flying service aircraft searched into early yesterday, then resumed at dawn.
Casino ships, which sidestep the SAR's strict gambling laws by sailing out of Hong Kong waters before opening the tables, have come under official scrutiny recently. Home Affairs officials want to change the law to stop such ships promoting their business while in the SAR.
