AMERICAN professional import Bill Courtney inspired Suntex to a 110-98 extra-time victory over defending champions Seapower at MacPherson Stadium last night to keep alive their slim Hongkong Division A1 title hopes.

Suntex are in second position on the chart with 14 points, one behind leaders Seasonal and could clinch the crown by winning the top-of-the table clash at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium tomorrow.

Seasonal, however, may be awarded the title in the committee room before the match if they win an appeal over the eligibility of Seapower's Glenroy Ferguson. Seasonal will contend that Ferguson was not properly registered in Sunday's match which Seasonal lost to Seapower.

Suntex managed to forge a 48-44 advantage at the interval with Courtney scoring 26 points.

Seapower, inspired by Ferguson, pulled level at 60-60 early in the second half but Courtney's clever distribution opened the doors for Chan Chan-yiu and Eric Strothers to shoot Suntex into an 89-82 lead entering the last five minutes.

Ferguson brought the match to a thrilling climax when he netted twice from the outside to level the score at 96-96.

Dwayne Corbitt opened the overtime scoring for Seapower but couldn't score again as Courtney and Strothers each added six points for Suntex.
