Furla is becoming an increasingly sought-after handbag make among the Gucci-Prada set. The Italian handbag maker is focusing on Asia, and is opening its third store here this week. Boutiques in The Peninsula and Harbour City will be joined this Friday by a new boutique in Pacific Place.
Family member Giovanna Costato Furlanetto will be in Hong Kong for the opening. Especially popular will be Furla's signature bags - soft and unstructured with skinny straps and interesting accents.
Jean genie Denim has been in the fashion spotlight since the past summer and Gucci's much-copied beaded and sequinned jeans. It's a trend that has continued into autumn and will prevail through next year. Moschino is reporting sell-outs from its Jeans Line - especially jeans with a witty 'watermark' stain, to be worn with little tops given faux fur trimming.
Indian ideas At the New York and Europe shows - which continue this week in Paris - Indian influences remain strong for spring/summer 2000 (see below).
