The New Zealand property scene is enjoying a lot of additional activity connected with the America's Cup. The Cup Challenger races, run as the Louis Vuitton Cup, begin this month, with the final in February.
The wide international attention the races receive will complement the already heavy exposure New Zealand received at the APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation) conference last month.
Locally, a lot of the activity associated with the racing will centre on the boat syndicate area in Viaduct Harbour in Auckland's central business district.
Once a run-down corner of the city, Viaduct Harbour has been spruced up with facilities befitting a major international event.
The cornerstone of developments is the NZ$60 million (about HK$240 million) American Express New Zealand Cup Village undertaken by Infrastructure Auckland.
The village includes bases for the syndicates, public viewing areas, cafes, restaurants and bars and a state-of-the-art visitor and media information centre.
