Facilities and services

To promote students' all-round education, UST has a wide range of facilities and services.

The library has a stock of 520,000 books, periodicals and microfiche publications. Its electronic collections contain more than 11,000 items.

The Language Centre, apart from offering language en hancement programmes to boost students' English profi ciency, also provides courses in written Chinese, Putonghua, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, French and German. The Eng lish Writing Centre and Self-ac cess Centre also help students boost their language skills.

There are amenity areas for students to organise extra-cur ricular activities. Indoor sports halls are fully air-conditioned. Outdoor facilities include a swimming pool, soccer pitch, tennis and basketball courts.

New student orientation ses sions are held during the last two weeks in August. Orienta tion activities, usually in the form of camps organised by schools, departments, interest clubs and sports associations give a glimpse of campus life.

Those who are hall residents will be required to join hall ori entation.

Living in halls of residence is an important part of students' all-round education. UST be lieves it allows students to take part in more activities and in teract with and learn from oth er students.
