Three jewellery company employees foiled a robbery attempt and helped police arrest a group of suspects in Hunghom yesterday.

The employees, carrying $4 million worth of jewellery, became suspicious of a group in Man Lok Street at about 11.30am as they were about to get into a van.

The workers, heading for a jewellery fair in the US, were on their way to Chek Lap Kok. They telephoned police and the group fled in a taxi and on foot. Officers intercepted the taxi and two men and a woman, later found to be from Colombia, were arrested.

'A stun gun and two knives were seized from the three suspects,' a policeman said.

The three suspects, aged between 29 and 42, were being held last night at Kowloon City police station for questioning.

Two men armed with a gun stole a briefcase containing $1.5 million from a jewellery salesman in Yee Wo Street, Causeway Bay.
