Lexcon Investment has received a positive leasing response to a proposed 38,000 square foot arcade for Chinese-medicine related businesses in Whampoa Garden, Hunghom.

Lexcon said more than 50 parties had submitted expressions of interest in leasing units in the project.

The company, which leased the area from landlord Hutchison Whampoa, plans to divide it into about 50 units and sub-let the space to smaller firms involved in Chinese-medicine related businesses.

Lexcon Investment plans to open the proposed arcade in May.

The mall would be divided into zones for products and services, such as clinic and pharmacy, dry-preserved marine products, herbal tea and health food, medicine books and equipment and related lectures or exhibitions.

Stephen Sum Wing-nin, executive director of Everbright (advisory and marketing), the project organiser for Lexcon, said yesterday rents would be $15 to $40 per square foot monthly, on a six-year term.
