IGOR'S CAFE 86-88 Stanley Main Street, Stanley Tel: 2813 4467 Open: 11am-10.30pm If the ghoulish facade on the outside of this restaurant does not make you feel ill, you are in luck. The food here is surprisingly good - not what you may expect if your only experience with Igor's is the huge platters served during the shows at the Main Event branch in Sheung Wan.

This multi-storey restaurant is dark, with Addams Family-type portraits on the walls, rubber snakes hanging from branches and mock horror house touches everywhere. It is not the kind of place that would scare even a newborn, and children seem to find it amusing, helped along by the affable staff.

The menu has everything from burgers to pastas. We love the fried chicken, served with thick-cut chips. The sauce that comes with it is not really necessary: the chicken is moist and flavourful.

The squid salad is also wonderful, served with deliciously fresh vegetables.

Save room for dessert: there is an excellent panna cotta, flavoured with real vanilla bean.
