Splashing win for swimming champs

Diocesan Boys' and Girls' schools won the boys' and girls' Grade A and B team titles after a massive haul of 23 gold, 10 silver and eight bronze medals at the Secondary School Life-Saving Championships at Morrison Hill Indoor Swimming Pool.


The Division One inter-school swimming overall champions took the lion's share of the medals on offer.


In the boys' Grade A section, Tsang Kwok-bun of DBS captured two gold medals. He first teamed up with Kings Tsang to take the 2 x 50 metre cross chest tow race in 2 minutes 7.07 seconds. He then partnered Tang Ho-yuen to win the 2 x 50 m swim float rescue race in 2:09.85.


DBS also came first in the 2 x 50 m towel tow and duck dive races and the 4 x 8 m throwing relay.


Jockey Club Ti-I College gave an impressive performance by taking the 4 x 50 m life-saving relay and the 2 x 50 m extended chin tow race.


The DBS Grade B squad grabbed seven of the eight gold medals on offer.


St Joseph's College duo Fong Ka-lai and Wong King-fung scooped the gold in the 2 x 50 m duck dive race in 1:23.09. DBS came second and third.


DBS pairs Wan Ho-chun and Arthur Wong, Davis Hui and Chan King-chung each won two gold medals.


The powerful squad went on to take the 4 x 8 m throwing relay and 4 x 50 m life-saving relay in 1:14.17 and 4:31.86, respectively.


The Diocesan girls were equally dominant. Sherry Tsai partnered Ada Ng to score the first gold for DGS in the 2 x 50 m extended chin tow race in 2:8.34.


The Grade A squad then took four more events, including the 4 x 50 m life-saving race.


The Grade B squad also excelled in six events, with Jennifer Ng, Lau Choi-yan and Carrie Liu each winning two gold medals.


Heep Yunn School scooped three golds while Ho Tung Secondary School came first in the Grade A and B 4 x 8 m throwing relay.
