Web site offers free Christmas e-cards

Four Christmas e-cards are now available free on the Government homepage for the public to send their seasonal greetings in an environmentally- friendly way.


The e-cards are on the index page of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government homepage, the Government Information Centre (GIC) at (http://www.info. gov.hk/eindex.htm).


Senders are only required to fill in information such as name and e-mail address.


A spokesman for the Information Services De partment said it was the first time free Christmas e-cards were provided on the government home page following the success of a similar facility provided for government officials last year.


Apart from sending e-cards, Internet users can also visit the site for updated government news items, a wealth of government information and homepages of all bureaus and departments.


The spokesman said: 'Improvements to ser vices is continually being made to GIC. Besides the instant uploading of government press re leases, comprehensive information on topical is sues under News in Focus, preparation is being made for press conferences and briefings to be broadcast live on the Web site next year.'
