SHKP's Sha Tin project tops monthly approvals
The Buildings Department approved 24 building plans in November, the biggest being Sun Hung Kai Properties' luxury residential project in To Fung Shan, Sha Tin.
The developer has secured approval to build six 16-storey blocks of flats above seven podium levels which will provide a total of 592,000 square feet of residential space and 23,800 sq ft of non-residential areas.
The second-biggest project approved was a commercial redevelopment by Swire Properties in its Cityplaza in Taikoo Shing.
Swire received approval for a plan to build a 21-storey commercial block, totalling 448,200 sq ft in floor area, within the second-phase development at its Cityplaza One.
Hutchison Whampoa got the go-ahead for a 260,000 sq ft hotel extension at its existing development, The Harbourfront, on the Hunghom waterfront.
The Harbourfront comprises offices, serviced apartments and the Harbour Plaza Hotel and is next to the Whampoa Garden housing estate.
Among the plans approved in November were 15 for flats or combined housing-commercial developments, three for commercial developments, one for a factory and industrial development and five for community services developments.
The Land Development Corp has a plan approved to build two 41-storey residential towers in Yau Ma Tei, to include a day nursery, public toilets and refuse collection point.
The urban renewal project will provide 316,000 sq ft of residential space and about 18,000 sq ft of non-residential floor area.
Cosmos Wide Development and Star World Property have approval to build a 26-storey commercial tower at Jardine's Crescent, Causeway Bay.
Full Winners has plans to develop a 28-storey housing-commercial building in Wan Chai Road.
Janeworth Co will develop five 13-storey or 14-storey apartment blocks in Castle Peak Road, Tuen Mun, which will provide a total floor area of 237,700 sq ft.
In November, the Buildings Department issued consent for works to start on 17 building projects, which will provide 2.9 million sq ft of usable domestic floor area and 346,288 sq ft of usable non-domestic floor area.
The department also issued 31 occupation permits - eight on Hong Kong Island, eight in Kowloon and 15 in the New Territories.
The buildings certified for occupation involve 2.48 million sq ft of usable domestic floor area and 1.44 million sq ft of spaces for non-domestic uses.
The declared cost of new buildings completed in November totalled about $5.84 billion.
In addition, there were eight consents for demolition involving 13 buildings and structures.
