Talks on water supply

Hong Kong and Guangdong officials are still negotiating over water supply contracts that have left the SAR dumping millions of cubic metres of surplus freshwater into the sea.

At yesterday's meeting of the Advisory Council on the Environment - consisting of environmentalists and government representatives - members said the talks would continue.

The Guangdong side is stressing that Dongjiang River water supplies must be fixed in advance to plan for water resources management.
