A drawing competition has attracted more than 28,000 entries from young people in Hong Kong.

The Dragon in the New Millennium creative design contest is part of the 'Dragon at the Great Wall' project to celebrate the new millennium and the Year of the Dragon. Also part of the project is the 'Youth Conference on Meeting the Challenges of the New Millennium'.

The competition is organised by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and the All-China Youth Federation of China and scheduled for February 15 to 20 in Beijing.

The 'Dragon Dance at the Great Wall' event to be held on February 19, will feature more than 10,000 young Chinese people from around the world raising a three-kilometre dragon at the Great Wall. It is expected that the event will break the record for the longest dragon.

The 20 most outstanding drawings in the design competition will be made into postcards and sold to raise funds.

Featured on this centrespread are the outstanding entries in the youth category.
