Paintbrushes poised for poster contest

Budding young artists will have a chance to show off their creativity in a poster design competition organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

The competition is part of the International Arts Carnival to be held this summer.

It aims to foster students' creativity and interest in design.

The six-week carnival starting in July will include programmes such as Chinese and Western instrumental music, dance, drama, magic workshops, fun days and clown and puppet shows.

The competition is divided into two sections: primary and secondary schools. Applications can be made on an individual or a team basis and each participant can submit more than one design.

Entries for the primary section should measure 59 cm by 42 cm; for the secondary section, 76 cm by 51 cm.

Winners of each section will receive book tokens worth $1,500; first runners-up, $1,200; and second runners-up, $800.

The overall winner of the competition will receive an additional token for $500.

Five outstanding entries in each section will also receive a book token for $500.

Entry forms are available at major Leisure and Cultural Services Department venues. For inquiries, call 2741-7914.

Entries should be sent to the department's Festivals Office at Room 601, 6/F, 19 Lai Wan Road, Lai Chi Kok, Kowloon on or before March 27.
