Red Cross goes for gold

The Hong Kong Red Cross 50th Anniversary fund-raising gala was held in the ballroom of the Grand Hyatt with the timely theme, Hearts of Gold.


More than 380 guests turned up to be greeted by cadets from the Hong Kong Red Cross. As president of the Hong Kong Red Cross, the Chief Executive's wife, Betty Tung, gave a speech before the six-course Western dinner.


A fashion presentation of Christian Dior's autumn/winter collection took place during the cocktail reception.


Entertainment came in the form of Liao Chang-yong, the internationally renowned baritone, and pop singer Sammi Cheng. More than $20 million was raised for the Red Cross' headquarters redevelopment.
