Presidential adverts usually favour images of jutting jaws, outstretched hands and stirring 'God bless America' appeals. One radio slot aired in the nation's capital took a slightly more original tack on Sunday.
Hijacking the tune and lyrics of J. J. Cale's 1970s hit Cocaine - a song made famous by Eric Clapton - the ad pushed 'honest' John McCain. 'He don't lie, he don't lie, he don't lie . . . McCain,' it warbled. It finished with a crack at George W. Bush's wild youth - 'and who doesn't snort coke? McCain . . .'.
