Customs investigators have uncovered 13 cases of alleged textile fraud involving $2 million in a 10-day operation.

More than 33,000 finished and semi-finished garments, including pullovers, trousers, blouses, vests and T-shirts, were seized at factories and cargo entry points during the operation.

A large number of the items carried false labels with the words 'Made in Hong Kong' or 'Made in Austria' when they were actually made on the mainland.

The maximum penalty for such offences is a $500,000 fine and two years' jail.
