Gays launch media award
Gay activists are to launch an outstanding reporter award in their promotion of equal rights.
The Chi Heng Foundation, an organisation dedicated to promoting equal rights for homosexuals, said the award aimed to raise greater awareness in the media.
Articles would be assessed by a panel of school students, representatives from the Hong Kong Journalists' Association and the Equal Opportunities Commission. Members of the public could also vote via an Internet site.
The criteria would be effectiveness in dispelling misconceptions about homosexuals and raising areas of public concern.
