Fortune ready to smile on Hutchison

Fortune Glory may just be the horse to take long-serving trainer Bruce Hutchison to the all-important 12-winner mark for the season.

It's been a good couple of campaigns for the white-haired mentor from Perth who doesn't have a big team in training but most of them can do a job.

Hutchison's current tally is 10, following a quality win from Red Zone at Happy Valley.

The benchmark set by the Jockey Club's racing division is 12 and this basically guarantees all trainers their licence for the following season.

Hutchison looks sure to ease his way past that mark, especially with the promising Fortune Glory on his side.

Last night, Fortune Glory was resuming in an 1,150-metre dirt sprint after a promising debut third at Happy Valley in December.

He was predictably outpaced for much of the journey but was noted making strong headway all the way to the line to finish ninth of 14 runners behind the impressive Kev Bushido.

Fortune Glory, a son of Royal Academy, will be all the better for the outing, and shouldn't be far away if stepped up in distance.
