South Africa to hasten reform

Cape Town: South Africa will accelerate the restructuring of state-owned assets and hopes to complete deals worth 40 billion rand (about HK$47.3 billion) by 2004. 'The year 2004 is the year we want to have completed the restructuring agenda in South Africa,' said Public Enterprises Minister Jeff Radebe. Mr Radebe said the focus of restructuring would be on the big four with a combined asset value of 150 billion rand.
