Visitors are to be informed of the approximate waiting time prevailing at the Lowu crossing every one or two hours by radio broadcasts during the May Day holiday.

The move follows chaos at Lowu during the four-day Easter holiday earlier this month, when some visitors complained of waiting more than five hours to cross the border.

An Immigration Department spokesman said about 260,000 visitors per day were expected at Lowu in the coming few days.
