A HINDU PRIEST stands on his head beside the Taj Mahal, a Malay man recites the Koran in a graveyard, Singaporeans recreate ocean waves in a tableau of the Lion City's history (left). These are among 110 images Ian Lloyd has selected for Spirit Of Asia: 20 Years Of Photography (National Geographic Channel, $220), a collection of favourites by the Singapore-based photographer. Focusing mostly on the people of the region, the book is replete with picture-postcard shots that show Asia in its best light; most of the photos would not be out of place in an upmarket travel magazine. Which of the snaps is dearest to Lloyd? Surprisingly, one of a Hong Kong rice vendor with a furrowed brow. Realising his visitor wasn't going to buy anything, the man pulled a face most photographers learn to read. And that is? You have 30 seconds to get your picture.

The Spirit of Asia exhibition will be at Times Square Level 2 until Sunday
