Learning English the fun way
Learning English is not as difficult as most students think. We completed an English project recently. The topic was 'More About English'.
We looked at difficulties encountered by our classmates in learning English and how they tackled their problems. We interviewed two of our classmates on interesting experiences in studying English.
In addition, we quoted advice from some stars, such as Kelly Chen and Jackie Chan, on how to learn English effectively.
At the beginning, we were going to use a funny game to demonstrate the difficulties in learning English and the solutions. But we were afraid it would not be very interesting and those who read our reports would skip the game and go directly to the solutions.
Therefore, we used another approach. We quoted our classmates and wrote down their names so other students would be interested to read what they said. This method was quite successful.
At the very beginning, we had no idea as to how to do the project. To make it more inter esting, we recorded our classmates on tape while they were talking about their difficulties in learning English.
Then we listened to the tape and jotted down notes. We were able to practise our listening and note-taking skills at the same time.
Our writing skills also improved as we had to organise and write down the information.
While we were doing the project, we consulted our English teacher regularly and she gave us a lot of helpful advice. We tried our best to cope with the problems. This project helped us learn English with pleasure and we really enjoyed it.
