Firm's head confident for future

CONSTRUCTION Maintenance Industrial (CMI) head Mr Ugo Tori is so confident about the future of Hongkong that he has already decided to stay beyond 1997.

Mr Tori, who joined CMI in 1990, said he was also confident about the emerging China market and hoped to see more Italian companies moving into the region to take advantage of its economic potential.

CMI belongs to the Fochi Group, one of the great, old-established names of Italian construction.

Mr Tori linked up with the Fochi Group when it set up its Hongkong operation.

He first visited Asia in 1967 as area manager for Italy's largest pharmaceutical company and later travelled in the region for several years.

He settled in South Korea in 1971 as manager of another pharmaceutical firm and moved to Hongkong four years later.

The Fochi Group's companies are involved in large industrial projects in several fields.

such as chemical and petrochemical, power generation, desalination, agro-industrial and cement.
