Your May 30 report on government water supplies to Discovery Bay reveals a farcical situation.
The current reservoir's capacity is sufficient to meet the needs of Discovery Bay well into the future.
Changing over to government water would be wasteful, because the reservoir will still be maintained and its water used for flushing and watering the golf course.
So while we are being asked to drink water of questionable quality from Dongjiang River, water from our own reservoir, which may be the cleanest in Hong Kong, will be used for flushing.
Will someone please explain to me, again, why it has come to this? GAURANG THAKKAR Discovery Bay
