A gala dinner was held in the Grand Hyatt to celebrate the 102nd anniversary of Philippine independence as well as the 25th year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and China. More than 370 guests turned up for a toast by guest of honour and SAR Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa before they settled down to a sumptuous five-course Western dinner and were treated to a fashion show by Filipino fashion designer Jose 'Pitoy' Moreno.
