FIVE alleged triads netted in an 11-month undercover operation appeared in court yesterday on a total of 37 charges.

No pleas were taken from the defendants, aged 19 to 36, in three separate cases. They were arrested at various places in Tsuen Wan on June 29 at the end of the police operation, which began last July, North Kowloon Court heard.

The charges comprised 30 counts of claiming to be a member of the Wo Shing Wo triad society, two of being a triad member, three of inviting an undercover police officer to be a triad, one of theft and one of fighting in a public place.

The offences allegedly took place between January and last month.

Magistrate Henry Mierczak adjourned the cases for mention in Tsuen Wan Court on July 7, 14 and 21.
