A mainland visitor was questioned by police after he tried to cash two fake bank drafts with face values of US$100,000 (HK$778,000) and US$50,000 at the headquarters of the Standard Chartered Bank in Central.

The man, 54, told police he obtained the drafts from a friend on the mainland. Officers raided a guesthouse he had stayed in but no further seizure was made. The man was released unconditionally.
