I work on a mid-level floor in a 40-storey office building in Central. For the past two weeks, every working day from midday to about 2pm, it's possible to hear the amplified electioneering of political parties and candidates running for the Legislative Council elections. While it's encouraging to see spirited canvassing for electoral support in a city where democracy has to exist in the stunted boundaries set by the Basic Law, the noise is loud and annoying even from my height. I imagine it's deafening at street level. Do noise pollution laws apply to electioneering conduct?
