Cases of lung disease soar

Cases of the lung disease pneumoconiosis, which is caused by excessive exposure to dust, jumped 37.6 per cent to 150 last year, compared to 1998. The Pneumoconiosis Mutual Aid Association called on the Government to draft regulations to force bosses to educate workers and provide protection devices to employees exposed to excessive dust, such as those in construction. The association said relying on voluntary efforts was not enough.
