Parents deserve care, respect
Enacting a law to force people to take care of their parents is not reasonable. I also doubt its effectiveness.
Which parents would send their children to jail for breaking such a law? Poor living conditions would not be able to turn a parent's love into hate. Children would never be sued and the law would be ineffective.
More importantly, does caring for parents only mean giving them food and somewhere to live? If so, it would be no different from keeping a pet.
We can only repay parents' love with respect and appreciation, not just providing them with material things.
To encourage children to take care of their parents, education and communication are essential. People would not see it as a burden to care for their parents.
