Watson's to open new store in TST

WATSON'S Personal Store, a member of the A. S. Watson Group, celebrated a new store opening on May 29.

The new store, in Peking Road, is the first of three scheduled to open this month.

Commenting on the expansion, the regional managing director, Philip Ingham, said that ''part of our corporate philosophy is to expand into areas of growth that compliment our core business''.

''We feel that the addition of new partners and features is a benefit to our customers.'' The new store covers two floors and the combined footage is over 6,000 square feet. Conceptually, the store breaks new ground with its focus on space, choice and service.

The store offers more than 20 brands of cosmetics, a large dispensary and an extensive selection of personal care products, gifts and men's and women's accessories.

The store is manned by no less than 40 staff.

The new Peking Road outlet sees the first Benetton franchise to be featured in a Watson's store and displays shoes and accessories.

The store hopes this will be as popular a decision as its choice to work with the British firm, Tie Rack.

Another new initiative at Watson's is the introduction of self-service cosmetic counters allowing shoppers the ease and convenience to browse through a wide variety of make-up products.

''With a growing emphasis on convenience and service in the Hongkong market, Watson's new store seeks to meet the needs of a more sophisticated and demanding consumer,'' said Mr Ingham.
