Dust off your dancing shoes and lederhosen and get ready to polka. It's time once again for Oktoberfest, and a number of hotels are celebrating. The Holiday Inn Golden Mile is holding its parties tonight (September 22) and tomorrow in the Crystal Ballroom. For $450 plus 10 per cent, guests can enjoy the German buffet dinner that features homemade smokehouse delicacies, plus two mugs of Warsteiner beer and one shot of schnapps. They can work off the calories they consume from the buffet by dancing to the tunes of the Munchner Musikanten Band from Munich. Tickets on 2315 1269.


The Hongkong Hotel is celebrating Oktoberfest from October 18 to November 4 (except for October 20 and 28, when its closed for private functions). These parties include one beer and a souvenir beer stein for $70 from Sunday to Thursdays and $110 Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of public holidays. Guests can dance to music from the Notenhoblers from Munich, while enjoying German specialties such as pork knuckles, bratwurst and freshly baked pretzels. Phone 2113 0088.


The China Coast Pub at the Regal Kaitak Hotel offers an array of German snacks, which include fleischpflanzerl (Munich meat patties served with mustard and gherkins), leberhno delsuppe (liver dumplings served in broth), rosch gebratene schweinshaxe (crisp roast pork knuckle with salad), German frankfurters, and andechs headcheese leberka (hot farmers meatloaf with bacon and cabbage salad).For reservations,

It's porcini season, and the Mistral at the Grand Stanford Inter-Continental is featuring these delicious mushrooms on their menu until the end of October. The special dishes include fresh saffron tortelli with mascarpone cheese and porcini mushrooms served with truffle scented cream, and pan-fried duck breast and liver terrine with thyme, grilled polenta and sauteed red peppers. Beer lovers should head to the Regal Riverside Hotel, where they're offering an international selection of over 70 premium beers from around the world in the Carnival Bar.
