Residents worried about bare slope
I am sure all readers agree on the importance of preserving the green areas of Hong Kong. However, so many of these areas appear to be under threat and there are many examples of trees being needlessly removed.
For example, a year ago, the slope facing Classical Garden, in Tai Po, was filled with many tall trees. However, a large house was built and many of the trees were felled. In addition, a large patch of trees and grass on the slope beyond a fence were completely removed. Not only did birds lose nesting places, but Classical Garden residents are afraid of landslides during the rainy season. The slope is visible from Phase 2 of Classical Garden and the large house is located in front of No 19A, Ma Wo Village.
I urge the relevant government department to look into this matter and ensure that there is no further damage to the environment.
