Updated at 1.49pm:
Hong Kong and mainland immigration officials are to meet in Fujian and Guangdong on Friday to discuss illegal immigration.

Five SAR immigration officials, led by Immigration Department Director Ambrose Lee Siu-kwong, travelled to Fujian on Friday morning.

They will meet mainland Entry and Exit Bureau officials to discuss visas for business visits to Hong Kong and one-way permits.

''This is a regular visit but they will also discuss topics that interest both sides, like illegal immigrants,'' an Immigration Department spokesman said.

The spokesman said they understood that the Fujian government had been working hard to fight human smuggling.

He said that the HK Immigration Department was in close contact with police and Customs concerning Thursday's discovery of 26 mainland stowaways found in a container in Kwai Chung Container Terminal.
