Sky's the limit for kite-flying competitors
The sky will be the limit for competitors from Asia, Europe and the United States who will be taking part in a kite-flying festival later this month.
The Hong Kong International Kite Festival is scheduled to be held at the former Kai Tak airport on December 17.
Jointly organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and Golden Resources Development International, the festival consists of a series of kite-making workshops to be staged from Saturday to December 17.
A spokesman for the organisers said: 'The Kite-flying Fun Day, which will be held between 9 am and 3 pm on December 17, will be the highlight of the festival.
'Competitors from Hong Kong, the mainland, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, New Zealand, Sweden, Britain and the US will fight for the championship.'
In addition, masters will demonstrate sophisticated kite-flying techniques to the public. There will also be a variety show for participants as well as other recreational and sports programmes specially designed for children.
Both the fun day and the kite-making workshops are free of charge and now open for enrolment on a first-come, first-served basis.
