The Government's liaison office for diplomats and consulates will be revamped in a bid to make it more cost-effective. Established in 1997 with around 10 staff, the office oversees protocol and liaises with consulates. A second assistant director post responsible for protocol affairs is to be created, and will be offset by scrapping a chief executive officer and other clerical positions.
