Cruz can score with Sequitur

Trackwork logic dictates that Non Sequitur is the selection in this afternoon's feature event, the Hong kong Golf Club Centenary Cup.

Trainer Tony Cruz has his team bubbling after a slow start to the season and Non Sequitur appears to have come to the boil along with so many of his stablemates.

His work has really improved in the last two or three weeks and he hould appreciate the move up to a mile. He's raced a bit flat on his last two outings over 1400 metres at Sha Tin and 1200 metres here at the Valley, whereas his best run of the season was a close first-up fourth over today's course and distance.

On that occasion he was beaten just three-quarters of a length by Ironic Commander and the evidence from the track is that he's now ready to step up markedly on that effort.

Koh-I-Noor, largely as a result of a soft run on the speed, was seconded to ironic Commander that night but is going to find it hard to get across from barrier 14 today. his chance relies on leading and slowing them down.

Red In Green is racing consistently well and is the main form selection. He goes well over course and distance, as he slowed last time out when a short-head second to Frame's People had trouble obtaining a clear run.

Island West Treble was close up in a very strong form race last time, having won like an improved eprformer first time out. He should go close, especially as he didn't get all the luck in running last time.

Perhaps the other main hope, on recent form at least, is New Asians, who has come back this season working and racing well. drawing barrier two won't do his cause any harm.

Those looking for something to add value to the tierce could do worse than City Patrol, who has slipped to a seemingly advantageous mark.
